In New York City, Rothmans is an honored name among men’s stores, and the name has taken on an added glow since the Giddon brothers, Ken and Jim, assumed ownership. Their store has become a jewel in the crown of Manhattan’s social life, Union Square. The Giddons are on the cutting edge of finding great lines and carrying the best brands, and have developed a loyal following among the cool young crowd that gathers at the Square. A second Rothman’s is located at that outpost of cool, Scarsdale.
As all great retailers do, the Giddons spend time on the selling floor, and Ken in particular is a dazzling salesman; his performance with customers could serve as a seminar.
The brothers are almost as serious about sports as they are about retailing. Both are dedicated Red Sox fans and outstanding basketball players.
The Giddons have a long history with Gary Cahn, having been the first customers of the original GJ Cahn collection, and are currently a large and growing client of Private Stock. Now Private Stock salutes them as outstanding retailers, and as friends.
